EMV Fraud Liability Shift for AFD Postponed

With the current pandemic impacting merchants around the country, PULSE has extended the effective date for the EMV fraud liability shift for contact chip transactions at automated fuel dispensers (AFDs) to April 19, 2021. The new date is intended to give petroleum merchants flexibility when installing new devices and systems, as many are dealing with challenges relating to COVID-19. We believe that moving the date will ease the concerns for petroleum merchants as they plan to update AFDs.

The liability shift date will be changed in the next version of the PULSE Operating Rules and Procedures. The current Operating Rules can be found on the PULSE website (login required).
